When I’ve tried making almond butter in my Blendtec, it looked nothing like that video, and I purchased the Twister Jar when I couldn’t get it to work in the WildSide. In the WildSide the machine actually overheated, shut down, and a mechanical smell started coming out of the machine. With the Twister Jar, the almond butter makes the jar even too hot to the touch. We prefer raw almonds because they don’t have the carcinogenic acrylamides that roasted almonds do, but we’ve given up on that and are using roasted almonds and still have to use canola oil. One of my main goals in getting the Blendtec was to make nut butters so I am disappointed. The end product I can make looks much more like almond meal than like the liquidy almond butter in the video.

for Raw almond without any added oil

    to prevent heating the fat
or oil from the nuts, use small quantities and pause many times between,
before the jar gets warm! it takes about 30 or 40 min to get a soft
    creamy texture! very Disappointing!

I’m having mine now with my raw flax crackers! It’s sooo yum!!

  • Blendtec

If you turn it to the right, it will not scrape the sides as well and give you a thick blend. I now many people soak the almonds for a couple of hours or overnight before blending.

Try soaking the almonds in water for a couple of hours or overnight.
