Does this nut butter have to be refrigerated?
I tried with raw, soaked almonds and did not succeed. So I added water and made almond milk instead. Is there a way to use soaked raw nuts, as they are better for you when soaked .. (and I don’t have a Twister Jar, either)
I have made almond butter numerous times (about 3 years) in my big blender top (is that the Wild Side "jar"-looks more like a regular blender top to me) adding (organic) toasted/salted almonds (10 oz) then 1/3 as much roasted unsalted (organic) cashews. I blend on speed 1 for a full cycle and I push down the nuts as they climb to the top. Then after this cycle is done, I scrape and stir it a bit, then blend on 5 for as many times as is needed to get a smooth butter. Sometimes this takes 4-5 times. I mix and scrape it down after each cycle. I add a small bit (maybe a teaspoon) of non tasting oil if it appears to need a boost but more than likely doesn’t. I love it and it saves so much money. It’s creamy and smooth with never any oil separation.
My husband talked me into making almond butter since the recipe book only recommended peanut butter and almonds are a lot harder. Glad I did it.
I recently bought a Blendtec with the Wild Side+ jar and the Twister Jar after owning a VitaMix for 15+ years. For me, the true test was going to be making almond butter. My VitaMix seemed to take so long to get it smooth and I was having to add oil to it. I just made my first almond butter in the Twister Jar and it took less than a minute. Nice and smooth with no added oil. I started by roasting my organic raw almonds in the oven. After they cooled, I threw them in Twister Jar and out came delicious, creamy almond butter. I have to admit that I kind of wanted to dislike my Blendtec because I felt disloyal to VitaMix. But now, I am loving it.
Which one. — smoothie, dip, or ? I don’t have 1-9 buttons. Just names.
