OMG, I totally agree with you. I am surprised at all the comments… Why should we add oil if it’s not listed in the recipe… Why should I edit a recipe? I assume Blendetc chefs tested the recipe before they posted for the public to use. I guess not… btw, Vitamix has the same problem, my Vitamix stopped 4 times from over heating and after 3 hours I just had to scoop out the un spreadable almond mass. I have both Blendtec and Vitamix, and I run into the same problems with both; both blenders are too expensive for just smoothies, but both don’s stand by what they promise to do with harder solid foods
…but when we go to Whole Foods and make our own almond butter in their machines, do we soak our almonds? I don’t think so… These are expensive blenders and should stand by what they promise to do. Poor performance…
Has anyone tried using a little bit of coconut oil so the butter isn’t a runny?
I thought I would share how I make nut butter. I soak the nuts overnight & rinse to remove enzyme inhibitors & bitterness which makes nut more digestible. Then I crisp up the nuts by dehydrating @ 105 degrees. Crispy nuts are dried but not roasted. I add 1 T coconut oil to 11/2 cut of nuts & it goes just like video demonstration, smooth creamy nut butter in 45 sec.
I have a new blendtec blender with only low med high. What speed should I blend on?
