A mix of apples is best – get some sweet, sharp & bitter ones. :) Happy blending!
This is really amazing and totally delicious! I live in "apple country" in upstate NY and always have a variety of apples around this time of year. Granny Smith, a cider apple, was my favorite apple for this (I made two batches, one with Granny Smiths and one with Braeburns – Granny Smith was the clear winner!) I caramelized a little sugar since I didn’t have any caramel around (faster than a trip to the store! I poured the leftover caramel sauce over some pecans for a treat, later). A quick and easy dessert offering when friends and family drop by.
