13 Easy Blender Ice Cream Recipes

Easy Blender Ice Cream Recipe

Do you want to take care of your sweet-tooth cravings in a hurry? Check out how easy it is to make vanilla ice cream in your blender. But you're not limited to plain vanilla—you can make just about any flavor you could possibly imagine!

Why Make Blender Ice Cream?

If you’ve ever found yourself craving ice cream but skipped out because you don’t have any in your freezer, blender ice cream is for you. It’s also great if you’ve been looking for new ways to use your blender! Not only does it taste good, but it also has other perks.

  • Quick and easy: Just place all of the ingredients into a Blendtec blender, press the Ice Cream setting, and blend until thick and creamy. That’s it! If you prefer it to be scoopable for cones later, pop it in the freezer for a couple hours to help it firm up.
  • Ice cream maker not required: Churning ice cream is a chore of the past! High-speed blenders can create ice cream without the need of salt or ice cream makers.
  • Simple ingredients: All you need for the blender ice cream base is half-and-half, sweetened condensed milk, lemon juice, and ice. Put these all in a blender and you’re ready to go!
  •

    Additional Tips

  • Frozen milk cubes: Plan ahead and pour some milk into an ice cube tray and freeze it. Blending these instead of regular ice cubes will result in a creamier, less icy texture.
  • Powdered milk: Adding powdered milk to your blender ice cream can help get that rich and creamy texture, even if you use regular ice cubes.
  • Toppings: Blender ice cream is very easy to adjust. Add some of your favorite fruits or some chocolate chips for new tastes, textures, and colors.
  • Liquids go first: Always add liquids into the blender before other toppings to help with the blending process.
  • Be careful not to over-blend: Stop blending once your ice cream reaches a thick and creamy consistency. Running the blender too long can cause it to heat up and melt the ice cream.

The lemon juice is just for a little extra flavor, but not using it will not affect the outcome. You can add berries without the lemon juice.

Is there another option besides having to freeze the milk to create the ice cream consistency? If we don’t have time to freeze the milk. Can you use milk plus ice or does that ruin the taste and consistency?
      Thanks

What is the purpose of lemon juice? My kids can’t have any citrus so we made the vanilla mixture without it. I used almond milk, a little rice milk sweetened with agave and vanilla extract. It was really delicious. We wanted to add some berries but aren’t sure how that will turn out without using lemon juice. Any suggestions?

Here’s a great post on making blueberry ice cream: http://www.blendtec.com/blog/blending-101-tips-on-making-ice-cream/. It’s best to use frozen blueberries, they keep the ice cream cold and thicker. You can use refrigerated blueberries, but you will most likely need to freeze the ice cream after making it.
