You are welcome — I am always glad to help. I am a native speaker of English, and I have known for years that it is one of the more illogical languages. Pity all languages cannot be as logical as Esperanto.
English is actually relatively easy what the grammar is concerned, at least compared to German and Romanian, my native languages, and the other languages I know. What makes it really difficult for non-native speakers is the overwhelmingly huge vocabulary. Since it’s based on a mixture of different roots, Indo-Germanic as well as Romance and some others, it has about five times as many words as German, Itatlian, French or Spanish. Sometimes I have the impression that there are always five different words in English for the same thing, and it’s impossible to remember them all.
Yeah, Romanian is a curiosity with its language, I have no idea how it happens to be a linguistic island surrounded by slavic speaking countries. Since I was born in Romania (as part of a German minority), I should do some research to learn something about my own roots. Knowing some Romanian made it really easy for me to learn French and especially Italian, a strikingly similar language to Romanian. Interesting stuff.
Merry Christmas and best wishes back to you.
You are doing very well for English not being your first language!
Let us know how it turns out.
