How to Maintain your Blender Jar
A little over a year ago, we shared with you tips on how to clean your blender jars. Due to the many comments on that post, we've decided to give you some more tips on the best ways to maintain your Blendtec blender jars.
Clean your jar after every use.
In the blender:
- Use your Spectacula (with the Twister jar) or your Spoonula (with the FourSide and WildSide* jars) to scrape out all the delicious food you've just made.
- Fill the jar with 1 to 1½ cups water and 1 to 2 drops of soap. Secure the lid.
- Press "Pulse" a few times.
- Rinse, drain, and dry.
By hand:
- Use your Spectacula (with the Twister jar) or your Spoonula (with the FourSide and WildSide jars) to scrape out all the delicious food you've just made.
- Wash in the sink with soapy water.
- Use a nonabrasive dish cloth. (Using abrasive products, such as Scotch pads and nylon brushes, can scratch the jar.)
- Rinse, drain, and dry.
In the dishwasher:
- Use your Spectacula (with the Twister jar) or your Spoonula (with the FourSide and WildSide jars) to scrape out all the delicious food you've just made.
- Fill the jar with 1 to 1½ cups water and 1 to 2 drops of soap. Secure the lid.
- Press "Pulse" a few times.
- Place the jar on the top rack of your dishwasher. Do not run on the heat setting.
Note: Lemon-based detergents can etch the jars, making them look cloudy.
How other customers wash their jars:
- Fill the jar with 1 to 1½ cups water and 1 to 2 drops of soap. Secure the lid.
- Select "Batters." (This cycle is great for cleaning your jar after making thicker blends, like bread doughs and batters.)
- Rinse, drain, and dry.
- Rinse your jar under warm running water.
- Fill the jar with 1 to 1½ cups water and 1 to 2 drops of soap. Secure the lid.
- Press "Pulse" a few times.
- Rinse, drain, and dry.
- Clean your jar immediately after use, don’t let food sit in it.
- Before each use, turn the blade with your hand from the bottom of the jar by spinning the drive shaft.
- If the jar hasn’t been used over an extended period of time, you may want to put warm water in it and let it sit for 15 minutes, dump it out and then turn the blade with your hand to ensure it’s not stuck.

I don’t have my receipt but I bought my blendtec from Costco probably 2 or 3 yrs ago. I’m having a leaking problem from the jar, can I get a (free) warranty replacement w/out the receipt? Thnx. Btw. I LOVE it and use it almost everyday sometimes twice!
Dawne
why don’t they just make glass jars that do not get stained and etched? I’ve had my cuisinart blendr jar for years looking nice. So want a blend-tec but not having my jar get ugly .
Hi Sean, it sounds like you may need a jar replacement. Please call our awesome customer service team at 1-800-748-5400 and they’ll help you out!
I use my 4-sided blendtec everyday. I drink a shake made from fresh hard greens lke brocolli stems and brussel sprout heads with fruit mixed in. I have been treating the harder veggies like i do ice and add them last. I am a ‘new’ owner with only 95 blends. I clean my blender with hot water, soap, and some pulses. Yesterday i caught an off-putting smell from the base unit when i removed the jar. I checked today to make a shake and the blade does not spin free. It catches in places but isnt spinning freely. I put warm water, a bit of soap, and white vinegar in it to sit. I blended the soak for about 20 seconds. Now it squeaks when i turn the blade, like rubber on rubber. Any thoughts?
