3 tasty energy bites

Everyone enjoys snacking, right? We don't know anyone who doesn't enjoy a little pick-me-up in the middle of the day. But sometimes that snack ends up being a candy bar or cookie or something that isn't very healthy, so we've created three tasty energy bites that you can enjoy snacking on without feeling guilty.

These are high in protein and healthy fats and lower in carbs and sugar than most snacks. Whether you enjoy the tastes of peanut butter, chocolate, or fruit - you're bound to enjoy one of these energy bites.

Energy Bites

Peanut Butter Chocolate Energy Bites

Ingredients

1 cup oats (you can use gluten-free)
2 tbsp ground flaxseed
½ cup peanut butter
1 tsp vanilla extract
2 tbsp honey (you can use agave, but you may need to use a bit more to get the right consistency)
¼ cup chocolate chips Instructions

  1. Add oats and ground flax to Twister jar.
  2. Blend on a Low speed for 10 seconds. Turn Twister lid counter-clockwise during blending.
  3. Add peanut butter, vanilla and honey to mixture.
  4. Blend on a Low speed for 20 seconds. Turn Twister lid counter-clockwise during blending.
  5. Stir or pulse in chocolate chips.
  6. Shape into 1” balls and store in an airtight container in the fridge.

YIELDS: 16 energy bites

Energy Bites

Lemon Blueberry Energy Bites

Ingredients

2 ½ cups raw cashews, unsalted
3 soft Medjool dates
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 tbsp fresh lemon juice zest of ½ lemon
2 tbsp dried blueberries

Instructions

  1. Add half of cashews, then the dates and then the rest of the cashews to the Twister jar.
  2. “Pulse” 10-15 times. Turn Twister lid counter-clockwise during blending.
  3. Add vanilla, lemon juice, lemon zest and dried blueberries to mixture.
  4. “Pulse” 8-10 times. Turn Twister lid counter-clockwise during blending.
  5. Shape into 1” balls and store in an airtight container in the fridge.

YIELDS: 9 energy bites

   Energy Bites

Joyous Almond Energy Bites

Ingredients

1 cup oats (you can use gluten-free)
2 tbsp ground flax seed
1 tbsp cocoa powder
½ cup almond butter
1 tsp vanilla extract
2 tbsp honey (you can use agave, but you may need to use a bit more to get the right consistency)
½ cup shredded coconut
¼ cup dark chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Add oats, ground flax and cocoa powder to Twister jar.
  2. Blend on a Low speed for 10 seconds. Turn Twister lid counter-clockwise during blending.
  3. Add almond butter, vanilla, honey and shredded coconut.
  4. Blend on a Low speed for 20 seconds. Turn Twister lid counter-clockwise during blending.
  5. Stir or pulse in chocolate chips.
  6. Shape into 1” balls and store in an airtight container in the fridge.
  7. Roll in unsweetened shredded coconut.

YIELDS: 18 energy bites

    Do you have a Twister jar? If so, it comes with two lids – a gripper lid and a Twister lid. The Twister lid has tines on it that scrape the sides of the jar as you turn it to keep things blending. If you don’t have a Twister jar, click on the link to the recipe page to read instructions on how to make it in the WildSide+ or FourSide jar.

    Yes, you can replace almond butter with peanut butter it will just be a different taste.

    Yes, you can. Make sure they are soft dates or a date paste. They really need to be tacky enough to bind the ingredients in the mixture together.

    The honey is needed to help bind the energy bites. You could try using agave or maple syrup instead! You might need a little more of either of those so play with it until the mixture sticks together when you pinch it between your fingers.
